It features a white disk on a black background, with a silhouette of a man, a guard tower, and barbed wire, along with the words "POW/MIA" and the motto "You Are Not Forgotten". 

The flag was adopted in 1972 and is the official emblem of the National League of Families of American Prisoners and Missing in Southeast Asia. 

The POW/MIA Flag Act of 2019 mandates its display on specific federal properties every day the U.S. flag is flown. 

It is one of only two flags authorized to fly over the White House, alongside the U.S. flag.
